In 1997 Winter Panel, in conjunction with our Chilean licensee Antares Ltda., began shipment of 72 housing units for the Chilean Navy from our Brattleboro facility to Puerto Williams.

		Puerto Williams is located on Navarino Island between the southern tip of Chile and Antarctica. This region is an area of harsh climate, but astounding beauty. The island's severe climate and remote location presented significant challenges in this project.

More than 100 standard ISO shipping containers with all of the materials required to construct the houses were shipped from the United States, as well as a number of containers from Chile.

Approximately 40 workers from the Chilean mainland spent a total of about eighteen months completing the project. They were led by Chilean Navy personnel trained in the United States through Winter Panel and assisted by on-site technicians from Winter Panel and Antares Ltda.

Construction proceeded through all seasons until the project's completion in 1998. These units are now providing state-of-the-art energy-efficient housing for Chilean Naval personnel.
