Specifications

PART 1 - GENERAL

1.01 Description

Furnish and install all pre-fabricated wall and roof panels, as manufactured by Winter Panel, including all splines and fasteners, to provide a complete exterior skin package.

1.02 Design

Components furnished shall be of a thickness and configuration required to resist a wind load of [   ] psf, dead load of [   ] psf, and live loads of [   ] psf, all without exceeding a deflection of [1/   ] of the span for the roof panel and [1/   ] of the span for wall panels.

1.03 Submittals

Furnish detailed fabrication and erection drawings for all pre-cut panel systems, indicating the thickness, profile, facing materials, joint details, panel sizes and tough openings required to erect a complete exterior skin package.

PART 2 - PRODUCTS

2.01(A) Materials - Curtainwall Panels

A. Total Assembly
The basic panels shall be 4 9/16" or 5 9/16" in total thickness, in widths not exceeding 4'0", and lengths not exceeding [ 16 or 24 ]. All vertical wall joints shall be fabricated to accommodate 5/8 x 3" plywood splines. All unsupported roof panel joints shall be fabricated to accommodate 5/8 x 3" plywood splines. Joint fabrication will permit the use of expanding foam to provide a continuous thermal break at all splines connectors.
B. Exterior Face Material
The exterior panel skin shall be a single sheet of 7/16" thick oriented strandboard, square edges, meeting the standards of the American Plywood Association.
C. Interior Face Material
The interior panel skin shall be 1/2" gypsum wallboard.
D. Insulation
Insulation shall be high density polyisocyanurate closed cell foam, 2 pound per cubic foot density, Class 1, continuously laminated to the exterior and interior face materials.

2.01(B) Materials - Structurewall Panels

A. Total Assembly
The basic panels shall be 4 5/8" or 5 9/16" in total thickness, in widths not exceeding 4'0", and lengths not exceeding 24'0". All vertical wall joints shall be fabricated to accommodate 5/8 x 3" plywood splines. All roof panel joints shall be fabricated to accommodate 5/8 x 3" plywood splines. Joint fabrication will permit the use of expanding foam to provide a continuous thermal break at all splined connections.
B. Exterior Face Material
The exterior panel skin shall be a single sheet of 7/16" thick oriented strandboard, square edges, meeting the standards of the American Plywood Association.
C. Interior Face Material
The interior panel skin shall be a single sheet of 7/16" thick oriented strand board, square edges, meeting the standards of the American plywood Association.
D. Insulation
Insulation shall be high density polyisocyanurate closed cell foam, 2 pound per cubic foot density, Class 1, continuously laminated to the exterior and interior face materials.

2.01(C) Materials - Woodclad Panels

A. Total Assembly
The basic panels shall be 5 5/16" or 6 5/ 16" in total thickness, in widths not exceeding 0", and lengths not exceeding 16'0 All vertical wall joints shall be fabricated to accommodate 5/8 x 3" plywood splines. All roof panel joints shall be fabricated to accommodate 5/8 x 3" plywood splines. Joint fabrication will permit the use of expanding foam to provide a continuous thermal break at all splines connections.

B. Exterior Face Material
The exterior panel skin shall be a single sheet of 7/16" thick oriented strandboard, square edges, meeting the standards of the American Plywood Association.
C. Interior Face Material
The interior panel skin shall be a single sheet of 7/16" thick oriented strandboard, square edges, meeting the standards of the American Plywood Association. 6 27/32" wide by 3/4" thick custom milled tongue- and-groove #3 and better pine, or standard and better cedar boards will be laminated to the interior oriented strandboard with a cross-linked acrylic Type 11 adhesive.
D. Insulation
Insulation shall be high density polyisocyanurate closed cell foam, Class 1, 2 pounds per cubic foot density, continuously laminated exterior and interior face materials.

2.0.2 Performance Features and Tests

A. Structural Tests
Foam properties shall include the minimum compressive strength of 23.7 psi (ASTM C-365), shear strength of 11.9 psi (ASTM C-273), tensile adhesion of 16 psi (ASTM-297), flexural modulus of 760 psi (ASTM C- 393) and shear modulus of 750 psi (ASTM C-273).
B. Thermal and Moisture Properties
The panel shall provide a minimum Fl- value of 26, with a K value of .13- .15 (aged 12 months). Water vapor permeability shall be less than I perm, and water absorption less than 2.4% (ASTM C-209).
C. Fire Safety Characteristics
Curtainwall and Woodclad panels shall have a fire rating of at least [   ] minutes (ASTM E-1 19). [Note: Structurewall panels will require the installation of 112" gypsum drywall to meet the 15 minute finish rating.] The foam core of all panels shall have a Class I rating, Smoke Developed 300 (ASTM E-84), and Flame Spread of 23 (ASTM E-84).
D. Dimensional Tolerances
Thickness of panels shall not vary in excess of +/- 1/16" from those specified. Panel lengths shall not exceed +/- 1/4' of those specified, and width shall not exceed +/- 1/8" of those specified.
E. Guarantees
The panel fabricator shall provide a ten-year warranty covering defects in materials and workmanship upon completion of the panel installation.

PART 3 - EXECUTION

3.0.1. Inspection

The contractor shall examine the alignment of foundations and structural frames prior to panel erection, and shall not proceed with installation if foundations or structural frames are not aligned in conformance with the tolerances established by the contract documents.

3.0.2 Erection

The contractor shall provide a complete panel installation, including all splines, plates, foam and fasteners indicated on the approved contract documents. All work shall be performed in accordance with the manufacturer's recommended procedures, installation manuals and layout drawings for each specific product type.
